Tim was raised in a small farming community in eastern Montana. He graduated from Lambert High School in 1958 and joined the U.S. Army that summer. During his three years in the military, he served in Colorado, Arkansas, Oklahoma, South Korea and finally at the Dugway Proving Grounds in Utah
He joined the CIA in 1963 as a Logistics Officer and shortly thereafter he met and married Anita Ward, also a CIA employee from the Bronx, New York. Tim and Anita served three tours abroad - in Turkey, Thailand, and Greece. They have two sons: Timothy E. who was born in Turkey and now is employed by the U.S. State Department (and currently posted in Islamabad) and Sean, who is in the restaurant business in Alexandria, VA.
Tim served as a Logistics Officer and Support Officer to eight different components during his Agency career and was appointed to the Senior Intelligence Service (also known as the Senior Executive Service outside the Intelligence Community) by then Director Judge William Webster in July, 1990. He retired from the Agency in 1995 and he and Anita moved to Green Valley in August 1996.
